A storm in Albania: 1 dead, at least 20 missing, many injured, and flooded cities

A storm in Albania has claimed at least one life today, flooding cities and causing power outages in the capital Tirana, authorities said, Nova.rs reports .

Police said a 51-year-old man was killed in a fire after lightning struck a house in the northwestern village of Dedaj and caused a short circuit while one man was injured here.

Later, locals claimed that more than 20 people are missing and many are injured in this storm.

Another man was found at sea in the southwestern city of Wallonia, but investigators have not determined whether his death was related to the weather.

Many cities along the Albanian coast were flooded after two hours of unusually heavy rain. Farmers in southeastern Albania have complained that the downpour has damaged all their crops.

In Albania’s southernmost city, Saranda, lightning hit a residential building and damaged a major part of it. Albania has experienced two weeks of warm weather, with temperatures reaching 37 degrees Celsius.
