In his first speech after resigning as leader of the British Conservatives, Boris Johnson said he would not support any candidate in the race for the position of party leader and prime minister.

He stated that he has a good reason for this, that is, that he does not want to discourage them and reduce their chances of the election with his support, the Sky News reports .
– The constitutional function of the prime minister in this situation is to continue fulfilling his mandate, and I am doing that. My job is to oversee the process for the next few weeks – Johnson said.
Johnson added that ultimately the choice of party leader and new prime minister will be “good”.
