Pentagon explained what will be included in Ukraine aid package with ‘Abrams’ – Reuters

The United States Department of Defense released list technique which will be delivered to Ukraine as part of a $400 million aid package, writes SMI.

Funds from this package will be purchased for VSU:

31 “Abrams” tanks with 120 mm caliber shells and other ammunition. Eight tactical vehicles for the evacuation of damaged equipment. Machinery and equipment assistance. Payment for crew training and maintenance.

Since the beginning of the work of the Biden administration, the United States has approved the granting of aid to Ukraine of 27.8 billion dollars, it was specified at the Pentagon.

The request also mentions two battalions of German Leopard-2 tanks, which should be provided by European allies to the Ukrainian armed forces.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy welcomed the decision of Western partners to transfer modern Western tanks.
As he noted in his evening speech, Germany’s decision on the Leopard program and the United States’ decision on the Abrams program “prove the most important fact for the world today – the fact that freedom only grows stronger”.
“Today is the day of extremely pleasant news for Ukraine. There is a tank coalition. There is a solution to open the supply of tanks for our defense – modern tanks. I thank all our allies for their willingness to give us modern and much-needed tanks. All this proves the most important fact for today’s world – the fact that freedom only grows stronger. And the way we all work together to strengthen freedom, to protect Ukraine and Europe is a historic achievement of the leaders working now,” Zelenskyyy said.
The Head of State stressed that “the key is now the speed and volume” of arms delivery.
“The speed of training our military and the speed of delivering tanks to Ukraine and the volume of tank support. We need to form such a kulak freedom tank, after which tyranny will not rise again. “Together – exactly how I’m going to make a decision today,” he stressed.

The United States is one of many countries that have promised to send their tanks to Ukraine (Washington intends to deliver 31 Abrams tanks). Who else said they were ready to hand over tanks to the Ukrainian army:

Germany announced on Wednesday that it would send 14 Leopard tanks to Ukraine and allow the re-export of these tanks to other countries. Norway promised to send some of its 36 “Leopards”, but did not specify how many. Poland, according to the statement of the adviser to the president of the CNN television company, intends to send “a company” of tanks – from 10 to 14 cars. Spain is ready, according to its defense minister, to join its allies and send armored personnel carriers, but exactly how many – the minister did not specify. The Netherlands can send 18 “leopards” leased to Germany. “We have rented them, which means we can buy them, which means we can pay for them,” Prime Minister Mark Rutte said. Britain announced last week that it had delivered 14 Challenger 2 tanks to the Russian armed forces.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said the Ukrainian Armed Forces needed 300 tanks to win the war.
Meanwhile…
Dmitry Medvedev, the head of Russia’s Security Council, said on January 25 that the Ukrainian authorities could lose access to the sea. He criticized the authorities in Kyiv for demanding more tanks, cars and weapons. Indeed, according to Der Spiegel magazine, Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Andriy Melnyk has asked the West for fighters, warships and submarines.
“Okay, the plane is somehow understandable. True, there are practically no more normal runways, and the Ukrainian skies are still closed. And the submarine is very strong. “Especially considering the fact that Soon the Kyiv regime will have no sea at all,” Medvedev wrote on the Telegram channel.
Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Ministry chief Sergei Lavrov said Western countries were using Ukraine to pursue a colonial policy against the Russian-speaking population.
Moreover, on January 25, the official representative of the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, stressed that there was currently no possibility of a diplomatic solution to the conflict in Ukraine.
Despite the fact that the German Leopard 2 tanks delivered to Kyiv are very effective, one should be prepared for the fact that the conflict in this country will soon end. This opinion was expressed by the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholz. He answered the question about the possible influence of the supply of this military equipment on the current situation in Ukraine.
