US Ambassador Lynn Tracy attacked by pro-Kremlin protesters at the entrance to the Russian Foreign Ministry

On Monday, the new American ambassador to Russia, Lynn Tracy, was attacked by a crowd chanting anti-American slogans at the entrance of the Russian Foreign Ministry, where Tracy had come to present her credentials.

Recall that the United States reacted to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine by supplying Kiev with weapons, including battle tanks, and by introducing new economic sanctions against Moscow.

Despite a few diplomatic deals, including prisoner swaps (including ex-Marine Trevor Reed and basketball player Brittney Griner), high-level contact between the two sides has been rare.

The U.S. Embassy in Russia emphasized, “Ambassador Tracy is focused on maintaining dialogue between our capitals at a time of unprecedented tension, protecting the interests of U.S. citizens detained in Russia, and promoting ties between the American and Russian peoples.
