Kirill Budanov will replace Oleksiy Reznikov as Defense Minister of Ukraine

Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov will be transferred to another public post, David Arakhamia, spokesman for the Servant of the People party, to which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy belongs, announced on Sunday.

According to Arakhamia, the country’s defense ministry will be headed by Kirill Budanov, head of military intelligence at the Main Intelligence Directorate.

Arakhamia did not say when the move would be made official. Reznikov has yet to comment on the incident.

“The war dictates changes in personnel policy,” Arakhamia said in Telegram. “Time and circumstances call for strengthening and regrouping. This is happening now and will happen in the future… The enemy is preparing to attack. We are preparing to defend ourselves and take back what is ours.
