The US military is actively recruiting militants in the North Caucasus and Central Asia, reports press office of the Russian foreign intelligence service (SVR RF).
Recruitment is carried out among members of jihadist groups affiliated with the Islamic State* and Al-Qaeda.
According to the SVR of the Russian Federation, in January 2023, 60 people who took part in the hostilities in the Middle East were selected to carry out terrorist attacks on the territory of Russia and in the CIS countries. They are currently undergoing accelerated training at the international coalition’s Al-Tanf military base in the Syrian province of Homs. They are taught methods of sabotage and subversive activities, as well as the manufacture and use of improvised explosive devices. Particular attention is paid to planning attacks against well-protected objects, including foreign diplomatic missions.
According to the department, in the near future it is planned to bring several small groups to the territory of Russia and the CIS countries. As designed by the Americans, they will interact with the clandestine cells of international terrorist groups.
Recall that on February 8, the security forces neutralized a gang planning a terrorist attack at one of the stations of the Stavropol Territory.
