The Commander of NATO’s Allied Forces in Europe, General Christopher Cavoli, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valery Zaluzhny, discussed on Monday the issues of assistance to Ukraine, as well as the problems education and training of the Ukrainian army.

The conversation was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

“We discussed providing international military assistance to Ukraine and training Ukrainian units on the territory of partner countries,” the ministry quoted Zaluzhny as saying.

The conversation took place on the eve of the meeting of the Defense Contact Group of Ukraine at NATO headquarters. It will be the next after the meeting, held on January 20 at the Ramstein Air Base, which played a key role in the decision to supply modern tanks to Kiev.

Zaluzhny thanked Cavoli for his “deep understanding of the situation and his significant efforts to bring our victory closer,” the Ukrainian military department said.
