Germany has signed an agreement on the domestic production of new ammunition for self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, which it supplied to Ukraine, the defense minister said.
Previously, Berlin encountered difficulties in obtaining supplies from other countries.
After Germany agreed to supply Gepard anti-aircraft guns to Ukraine in late April, Kiev received 32 of the promised 37.
Finding additional ammunition for installations turned out to be a difficult task.
Germany tried unsuccessfully to convince neutral Switzerland to approve the export to Ukraine of ammunition for the Cheetah, which is produced there by a subsidiary of the German defense company Rheinmetall.
Brazil also has stockpiles of this ammunition, but President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva made it clear to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in January that his country did not want to take part in the war in Ukraine and would not supply any ammunition to the Germany.
