The leader of an IS militant group has been killed in northeast Syria. This was announced on February 17 by the US Central Command.
Hamza al-Khomsi, a high-ranking leader of the self-proclaimed Islamic State terror group, which led militants in eastern Syria, was killed in a helicopter raid on Thursday, the report said.
During the operation, four US service members and a service dog were injured. Their condition is considered stable.
US Central Command spokesman Col. Joe Baccino said the operation was carried out in conjunction with the Syrian Democratic Forces, a military alliance dominated by Kurdish forces. As a result of the operation, no civilians were injured.
Joe Bacchino also reported on another operation that resulted in the death of another IS commander who led a group of terrorists who carried out political assassinations. Bakkino did not provide additional information.
