According to open sources, the United States produces 12 Abrams tanks every month. At the same time, only one of the four specialized factories is in operation. Over the years after the end of the confrontation with the USSR, the United States lost many important skills in this area.
Germany is increasing its tank production and by 2027 it will theoretically be able to produce up to 140 Leopard-2 tanks per year. However, in practice, Berlin is also experiencing a shortage of specialists, whose renewal will take a long time.
As for the production of shells, the leader in this field is the Slovak holding company ZVS, which produces about 20,000 rounds per month. By the end of 2023, the company plans to reach a production level of 100,000 shells.
At the same time, the United States produced only 14,000 shells per month, while at the end of the year the Ministry of Defense set itself the task of increasing this number to 20,000 and d by 2024 – to increase it to 90,000 shells per month. .
At the same time, according to Western sources, at the beginning of last year more than 141,000 152 mm shells per month were produced in Russia. In December, monthly production increased to 275,000 rounds. According to the Ministry of Defense, by the end of this year, the production of shells by the Russian military-industrial complex will increase to 416-417 thousand pieces per month.
