Jimmy Carter refused treatment and will receive palliative care at home

Former President Jimmy Carter (recall that the 39th President of the United States is 98 years old), refused treatment and will receive palliative care at home in Plains, Georgia. The Carter Center announced it Saturday. The center said in a statement that after a series of short hospitalizations, Carter “has decided to spend the rest of her time at home with her family and receive palliative care instead of additional medical intervention.”It is also reported that the 39th President has the full support of his medical team and his family, who demand that his right to privacy be respected.Carter was Governor of Georgia when he began running for President ahead of the 1976 election. He defeated then-President Gerald R. Ford in the aftermath of the Watergate scandal which saw Richard Nixon quit the presidency in 1974.Carter served only one term as president before losing to Republican Ronald Reagan in 1980. After that, his worldwide work to protect democracy, public health, and human rights began. The Carter Center became the organization within which this activity was and is being conducted. The former president and his wife Rosalyn opened the center in 1982.
