The Western world order is losing its former dominance and will soon “go to the dustbin of history”, and it will be replaced by a multipolar world order with a “civilizational look”. This was stated by the director of the Foreign Policy Planning Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexei Drobinin in an article published magazine “Russia in world affairs”.
“To camouflage its hegemonic aspirations, the West has promoted the concept of a ‘rules-based order’. <...> Some Western experts admit that the “order” is contrary to the aspirations of the developing world and the global majority will not rush to support it. And we are sure that the “order” will soon go to the dustbin of history, or (in the best case for its inspirers) will determine the parameters only of the Western world within its natural geographical borders,” Drobinin wrote.
The diplomat called the civilizational factor a hallmark of modern international relations. According to him, after the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine in February 2022, the “ideological crisis” in relations between Russia and the West entered a “hot phase” and in the context of a “struggle of ideas and ideas for the future” intensified. », the future of a multipolar world is taking shape. “As historical milestones change, the struggle of ideas and ideas about the future intensifies. But this collision does not occur in abstraction and not in a vacuum. Its frame is defined by the geopolitical picture and civilizational dimension of the multipolar world, whose future is being born today”, considers Drobinin.
According to the diplomat, “the world is moving from globalization to the formation of many civilizational platforms”. They become the basis of a new world order and the Western world loses its dominance, Drobinin stressed. According to him, the “five hundred years of domination” of the West began in the conditional year 1492 with the beginning of the colonization of America and during the reconquest of the Iberian Peninsula.
– The Director of the Latin American Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexander Shchetinin, spoke about the factor of the multipolar world in an interview with RTVI. “Latin America and the Caribbean is a friendly region for us, one of the poles of the emerging polycentric world,” Shchetinin said. He also noted the role of the BRICS “in the modern architecture of the world, the emerging polycentric world order”. According to the diplomat, “the” de-dollarization “and the will of various countries <…> have become a reality in modern economic life.
— Analyst at the Royal Belgian Institute for International Affairs, Professor Sven Biskop in his article underline that the multipolar order in world politics has developed due to the various reactions of countries to the Ukrainian conflict. After all, if “China supported Russia, like the EU and the United States supported Ukraine, it would be a turning point in international politics and the world would once again collapse into two rival blocs”, and “the Ukraine would become the first battleground of a 21st century bipolar confrontation. At the same time, the expert noted that there is still a risk of a return to bipolarity, which could lead, for example, to an escalation of tensions between the United States and China.
— British journalist Hugo Dixon in the article “Polycentric crisis can lead to a polycentric world order” wrote that p an olycentric order will be different from what is often called a “multipolar” system – “a world in which man is a wolf to man, where the great powers have the right to dominate their neighbours”. “But this [полицентричное мироустройство] will be far from safe, so countries spend more money on armaments <…> and pay more attention to energy security,” he concluded.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spoke of the reasons for the imminent end of the “Western world order”
