Last October, Berlusconi revealed that Vladimir Putin had given him vodka for his 86th birthday. Zelenskyy said he could also give Berlusconi vodka. He stressed that the drink will be “of excellent quality”.
Commenting on Berlusconi’s remarks about the 20 bottles of vodka given to him by the Russian leader, Zelenskyy said he could send an excellent quality Ukrainian drink to the politician.
– I heard Berlusconi’s statements. I don’t know him personally. But maybe we should send him something. Does he like vodka? We have excellent quality vodka in Ukraine, if you want we will give it to him,” Zelenskyy told Corriere della Sera.
Berlusconi said that in addition to 20 bottles of vodka, Vladimir Putin had sent him a “touching letter”. In response, the Italian politician offered the Russian leader sparkling wine and the same “emotional” letter.
The European Commission considered such a gift from the Russian leader as a violation of anti-Russian sanctions, under which a ban on the import of Russian alcoholic beverages was introduced.
