The United States has called Russia’s decision to suspend its participation in START-3 irresponsible

Russia’s decision to suspend its participation in the nuclear arms control treaty is irresponsible, and the United States will be watching Moscow’s actions closely. This was announced by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Tuesday while in Athens.”Russia’s announcement to suspend its participation is deeply regrettable and irresponsible,” Blinken told reporters. – We will closely monitor the actual actions of Russia. In any case, we will of course take the appropriate measures to ensure the security of our country and our allies.Earlier on Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a warning to the West supporting Ukraine and announced the suspension of START III, the bilateral nuclear arms control treaty between the United States and Russia. Putin announced the deployment of new strategic systems and warned that Moscow could resume nuclear testing. Thus, the President of the Russian Federation said that Moscow is suspending its participation in the last major arms control treaty between Moscow and Washington, which limits the number of nuclear warheads they can deploy. It expires in 2026.Blinken left the door open to resume negotiations at any time.“We remain ready at any time to discuss with Russia the issue of strategic arms limitation, regardless of what is happening in the world or in our relations,” Blinken said, adding that the world expects from the two largest nuclear powers that they act responsibly.
