The State Duma quickly introduced a presidential bill on the suspension of Russia’s participation in the Treaty on the Reduction of Strategic Offensive Arms (START). Details of the evening of February 21 were announced by Speaker of the House of Parliament Vyacheslav Volodin.
“The President of the Russian Federation has submitted to the State Duma a draft federal law” on the suspension by the Russian Federation of the application of the treaty between the Russian Federation and the United States of America on measures to further reduce and limit strategic offensive weapons,” Volodin said.
It should be noted that, according to Volodin, the bill will be considered tomorrow, February 22, after which the document will be sent to the Federation Council. This was reported to RIA Novosti.
Recall that in the afternoon, the Russian leader Vladimir Putin, in a speech before the Federal Assembly, declared that Russia was suspending its participation in this agreement, stressing in particular that the country was not withdrawing from it.
Previously, it was known that it would take years to end the armed conflict in Ukraine. This conclusion was drawn by US leader Joe Biden during his speech in Poland.
