The leader of A Just Russia – For the Truth, Sergei Mironov, said that at the congress he would propose not to nominate a candidate of the party in the presidential election, but to support Vladimir Putin. He said this on Rossiya 24.
“At the congress, we will indicate in advance our position on our participation in the presidential campaign. I will suggest to my comrades not to nominate candidates from our party and to support incumbent President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin,” Mironov said (quoted by RIA News ).
Officially, Vladimir Putin has not yet announced his intention to participate in the 2024 presidential election.
During his address to the Federal Assembly on February 21, he said that the regional and local elections of September 2023 and the presidential elections of 2024 will be held in accordance with the law and according to “all democratic constitutional procedures”.
Sergei Mironov ran for president twice, in 2004 and 2012. Both times he was last. In the 2018 elections, A Just Russia did not nominate its own candidate and supported Vladimir Poutine.
After the referendum on amendments to the Constitution, which took place in the summer of 2020, Vladimir Putin had the opportunity to participate in the presidential elections twice. Thus, he will be able to occupy the presidency until 2036.
