Biden, returning to the United States from Poland, commented on the situation with Russia’s withdrawal from START. The White House chief said the suspension of Russia’s participation in START-3 showed no signs of readiness to use nuclear weapons.
The American president announced it in an interview with ABC.
Recall that on February 21, Vladimir Putin addressed the Federal Assembly with a proposal to suspend participation in the START treaty. The next day, the deputies of the State Duma and the Federation Council voted for this decision. The decision was taken unanimously. At the same time, many political and military experts claim that the suspension of Russia’s participation in the START treaty does not mean a willingness to use nuclear weapons.
Earlier, Russian diplomat Andrey Kelin spoke about the Russian Federation’s adherence to the doctrine, in which the case for Russia’s use of nuclear weapons is stated quite clearly.
“That is if a nuclear strike is inflicted on Russia for the first time and an attack using conventional weapons is so severe that the existence of our state will be in danger,” Kelin said.
