Hungary says NATO could have prevented conflict in Ukraine

February 25, 2023, 7:30 p.m. – Public Information Service – TEH – The head of the Hungarian Prime Minister’s cabinet, Gergely Guiyash, said that the Ukrainian conflict could have been avoided if NATO had given guarantees that Ukraine would not be admitted to the alliance.
During the conversation with journalists, he was asked to what extent Moscow was responsible for the Ukrainian conflict. Gouyash replied that “from a legal point of view, 100% responsibility lies with Russia, but from a political point of view there may be disputes.”

According to him, if the military bloc had given guarantees that Kiev would not become a member of NATO in the long term, then the start of the NWO could have been avoided.
Gouyash also said Hungary was under “increased pressure” from those who see a military solution to the conflict in Ukraine. However, he stressed, Budapest does not intend to change its position and calls on other countries to refrain from supplying arms to Kiev.
As the Public News Service has already reported, political scientist Alexander Perendzhiev explained why Austria and Hungary refused to support Kiev during the Ukrainian conflict. According to him, their position is based on the reluctance of countries to “go against their national interests”.
