Vandalism at Mela store linked to underworld gang

A man who was seen spraying the exterior of Melabúður on Friday evening has posted a series of photos on Snapchat that indicate he has had a more widespread presence. Among other things, he posted a photo of spray cans and a garden wall where the initials HNP were sprayed.
DV reported this morning that a person was seen Friday evening spraying the same inscription, HNP, outside the wall of the Mela store.

The man is in his thirties and has a criminal record. According to DV sources, more people are involved in this graffiti and people are connected to the underworld. The letters HNP should stand for “High and Paranoid”, which in Icelandic could be translated as “Intoxication and paranoid”.
A person who informed DV of the incident outside Melabúd yesterday sent a very short video showing the man walking quickly away from the scene but not pulverizing the wall. The person described the man spraying the wall and then driving away.
