Volfovich clarified that the militia is intended to fight banditry and saboteurs, suppress looting and ensure public order. He will come to help the Ministry of the Interior on the ground. The law on people’s militias in the country will be adopted soon. This will legitimize the people’s voluntary desire to defend the country, Volfovich stressed.
The day before, the President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko had denied reports that Russia was going to absorb Belarus. Moscow and Minsk, stressed the Head of State, have their own development strategies, and the Russian Federation adheres to a fraternal position vis-à-vis Belarus. The public information service quoted the Belarusian leader’s words that the two countries would not leave the sites of international organizations, despite provocations by hostile states.
