Suppressing a cough with special drugs can be dangerous, said cardiologist Denis Prokofiev.In conversation with Izvestia Prokofiev noted that cough plays the role of a protective mechanism and can indicate various dangerous diseases that are not always associated with the bronchopulmonary system. According to the doctor, Russians most often complain of coughing during the period of the active spread of viruses, but this symptom can also appear for other reasons.Prokofiev drew attention to the fact that cough is often triggered by, among other things, allergies and cardiovascular diseases. The cardiologist reminded that cough receptors are located in the heart, stomach and other organs, so this symptom is not only caused by a cold.
