26 February 2023, 11:54 – Public Information Service – TEH – Shortly before the start of the earthquake, a strange glow appeared in the Turkish sky. The reasons for this were announced by the chief researcher of the Institute for Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Sergey Pulinets, reports RIA Novosti.
According to the scientist, the glow appeared due to the piezoelectric effect. When deforming a crystalline substance, electric fields appear in it.
“In a normal situation, each crystal has its own direction of this field, and their sum tends to zero. But under external influence, tensions arise and colossal force fields are formed,” the expert explained.
He noticed that such electrical charges in the air caused a mysterious glow. It is somewhat reminiscent of the Northern Lights, but is created in the lower atmosphere.
