On Monday, the SBU reported that a Ukrainian court sentenced two captured Russian servicemen to prison terms for participating in the shelling of residential areas in eastern Ukraine.The SBU report indicates that one soldier was sentenced to 10 years in prison and the other to nine years. Their names are not called. Published information only indicates that both fought in eastern Ukraine and were taken prisoner last year.According to the SBU, one of the convicts began fighting alongside separatists in eastern Ukraine in 2014, and in 2022 he fought alongside the Russian army in the Bakhmut region.Another condemned was the commander of the unit which bombarded Severodonetsk and Lisichansk, and was taken prisoner along with the soldiers of the unit.The Ukrainian court declared the two servicemen guilty under the law on undermining the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, and one of them also under the law on participation in illegal armed groups.
