Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Named the reason for the termination of oil transit through the “Druzhba” pipeline

The stoppage of oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline through Polish territory is due to the fact that Transneft did not receive payment for the transit. In addition, route orders for the transfer of raw materials were not issued in time, so the supply of Russian black gold to Poland is no longer in the export schedule.
On February 25, representatives of the Polish company Orlen announced the end of oil deliveries from Russia. Oil refinery chief Daniel Obaitek said there was a replacement for Russian raw materials in Warsaw.
Rosneft spokesman Igor Demin said in an interview with TASS that the new oil supply schedule through the Druzhba pipeline excludes supply to Polish consumers. The stoppage of Russian oil imports to Warsaw was announced at the end of last year. Polish authorities have tried to obtain formal EU sanctions against Druzhba so that they can terminate existing contracts without penalties.

Currently, there is a contract between Poland’s Orlen and Russia’s Tatneft to pump 200,000 tons of raw materials per month through the Druzhba pipeline until the end of 2024. However, failure to pay the Polish side forced the Russian operator to suspend the transfer of oil on February 25 this year. Poland plans to replace oil from the Russian Federation with raw materials from the United States or Persian Gulf countries.
