Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

“NATO is not as weak as Putin thought.” Germany announces joint exercises with the United States and Poland

Germany, Poland and the United States intend to hold joint military exercises on Polish territory in the near future. About it on the airwaves of the ARD television channel informed German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
The exercise would send a clear signal to allies in the Baltics and Eastern Europe, he said, and a sign to Russian President Vladimir Putin that NATO “is by no means as weak as he thought so”. Pistorius added that the North Atlantic Alliance has become “much stronger and more united” than before hostilities began in Ukraine.
The minister noted that it is important for Germany and the United States to show the commitment of the Baltic and Eastern European countries to their obligations to protect the alliance, reports Deutsche Welle*.
Pistorius did not specify when exactly the drills would take place and how many military personnel would be involved.
On February 26, the French Minister of Defense announced the start of the Orion-2023 combined arms exercises, which he described as “the most important for decades”. The exercises will last two months, their purpose is to prepare the military for the conditions of the “high intensity” conflict. The maneuvers will involve 20,000 people, more than a thousand units of ground equipment, as well as the fleet and aviation.
On February 21, Czech Army Chief of General Staff Karel Rzehka called for preparations for a possible conflict between Russia and NATO. He noted that in the event of such a development of events, the Czech Republic will become an important springboard, but its resources will not be sufficient for prolonged military operations.
