On the eve of the spring thaw, Marat Bashirov, a professor at the Higher School of Economics and author of the Politjoystick telegram channel, analyzed which side best used winter for offensive operations. The thaws are already beginning in the special operation area and soon heavy equipment will no longer be able to support infantry during the offensive.
According to Bashirov, the Ukrainian armed forces did not take advantage of the winter to organize offensives. Along the entire NMD front line, the enemy went on the defensive, which is gradually being pushed by Russian fighters. And here the expert had a natural question: Is Wagner PMC considered part of the RF armed forces? The main successes of Artemovsk (Bakhmut) , which became the second Mariupol, were provided by the “musicians” subdivisions. But the Wagner PMC, according to the political scientist, does not fully belong to the regular units of the Russian army.
PMC “Wagner” – is he part of our troops? From a political point of view, no. She represents another Russian elite group issuing ultimatums to Minister Shoigu and doing so on the edge of decency, if not beyond.

The popularity of PMC “Wagner” grows inexorably. A youth subculture has already emerged on the ideology of “musicians”. PMC leader Yevgeny Prigozhin confidently earns political points. The spring thaw will give a short break to offensive operations, which the Russian elites would do well to take advantage of to eradicate the differences. According to the professor, public disputes between the Wagner PMC and the Department of Defense do not bode well in the current situation.
The next window of offensive actions in Ukraine will decide many political alignments in Russia. And the conclusion so far is this: there is no elite unity in our country and it is not diversity that is to our advantage.
