The FSB said it identified two residents of Sevastopol who offered to Ukrainian special services to purchase data on objects from the Russian Ministry of Defense from them. Suspects arrested for two months transmits CASS.
According to the FSB, two Sevastopol residents born in 1979 and 1995, on their own initiative, contacted representatives of the Ukrainian special services in order to send them information on the location of the objects of the Russian Ministry of Defense in return for a monetary reward.
“A man born in 1979 carried out reconnaissance missions of the Security Service of Ukraine to collect information on the location of military installations and transmitted this information by e-mail respecting confidentiality measures. The second suspect confirmed his intentions for confidential cooperation with the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine during a telephone conversation, but did not have time to transfer the data due to circumstances beyond his control,” said the FSB Public Relations Center.
Procedure under Art. 275 (“Treason”) and 275.1 (“Establishment of confidential cooperation with a foreign state”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The penalty of the first article involves up to eight years in prison, the penalty of the second article – up to 20 years.
The suspects were arrested for two months. Further details of the defendants are not given.
On February 15, the FSB reported that a Ukrainian citizen, a member of the Azov * regiment, who arrived in Russia under the guise of a refugee, was detained in Rostov-on-Don.
