February 27, 2023, 06:07 – Public Information Service – TEH – The US Department of Defense will make up for last year’s shortage of 15,000 recruits in 2023 by attracting 65,000 new soldiers to the country’s armed forces. The corresponding statement was made by US Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth. It is reported by Fox News.
“In my opinion, the number one priority for this year…is to solve our recruiting problem. Last year, the army fell short of its recruitment target of about 15,000 men. This is a very serious situation for us,” she told reporters. The American politician made the corresponding statement during a discussion that took place at George Washington University.
It is worth noting that in 2022, the recruitment plan implied the inclusion of 60,000 people in the American army. However, by the end of the year, only 45,000 soldiers had been drafted into American troops.
According to experts, the main reasons for these statistics were obesity problems among young Americans, as well as their lack of high school diplomas and the presence of mental illnesses.
Earlier, the Public News Service reported that, according to former adviser to the head of the US Department of Defense, Douglas McGregor, the Ukrainian armed forces would collapse without the support of NATO specialists.
