Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

A cafe in Kharkiv announced discounts for Russian books handed over to waste paper

A collection of books written in Russian was advertised by one of the cafes in Kharkiv. For this, citizens benefit from discounts on coffee. The books collected will be recycled by the establishment’s employees. For each copy brought to a cafe, they give a discount of one hryvnia per order. However, if a person brings several coins at once, they are entitled to free coffee. The action was called “Put Pushkin back on Pushkinskaya” due to the name of the street where the cafe is located. In addition to the Russian poet’s books, they accept other copies written in Russian.Kharkiv residents have already brought “War and Peace” by Leo Tolstoy and “Prince Silver” by Alexei Tolstoy to the cafe. In addition, the two-volume “Life of Pushkin” by Ariadna Tyrkova-Williams was sent to waste paper, reports “Ukraine.ru” .This is far from the first known case of destruction of books in Russian in Ukraine. As part of the so-called “de-Russification” policy, the country has already got rid of several million publications.
