Kishida: Japan will not abandon three non-nuclear principles

March 1, 2023, 05:57 – Public Information Service – TEH – The Japanese side does not plan to revise the three non-nuclear principles, according to which Tokyo does not possess, create or import nuclear weapons into its territory. This was announced by State Premier Fumio Kishida.
“We will respect the three non-nuclear principles. We do not consider the possession of nuclear weapons, including co-ownership,” he stressed.

Previously, some politicians, including former Defense Minister Shigeru Ishiba, had urged the government to consider the possibility of Japanese involvement in shaping decisions that would be related to US nuclear weapons.
Earlier, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said the situation in Ukraine demonstrated the weaknesses of the modern world order and the UN Security Council.
