Regions of Kazakhstan should return their historical names. This statement was made by the head of the Ulytau region in Kazakhstan, Berik Abdygaliuly. In his opinion, the Soviet names of the regions should be dropped.The head of the region spoke at the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference, which was held in the city of Zhezkazgan. During his speech, he said that modern names of regions and regions should be replaced by historical names. In particular, he proposed to return the name Akzhaiyk to the Western Kazakhstan region, and Altai to the Eastern Kazakhstan region.”It will definitely inspire everyone in the country,” Tengri News quoted him as saying.It is noteworthy that in May 2022, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a law on the formation of three new regions. Abay, Zhetisu and Ulytau regions appeared in the country.
