Two trains collided in Greece. 26 people died

As a result of the collision of passenger and freight trains in Greece, 26 people were killed, 85 were injured. informed ERT1 in reference to the official representative of the firefighters of Greece, Vassilis Vartakoyannis.
According to him, 25 victims are in serious condition.
The accident happened on the night of March 1 at the Evangelismos station near the town of Larisa (more than 200 km northwest of Athens). The passenger train, which followed the Athens – Thessaloniki route, had 350 people. The freight train followed the Thessaloniki-Athens route.
Governor of Thessaly Kostas Agorastos informed that the first and second carriages of the passenger train were completely destroyed. According to him, all the passengers have been released, the rescuers are only looking for the dead.
150 firefighters and 32 police officers are involved in the rescue operation. 40 ambulances and 15 patrol cars are on duty at the scene of the accident. Crane vehicles are also involved in the evacuation.
In early December 2022, two trains collided at Moncada i Rexac station in Spanish Catalonia. As a result of the accident, 150 people received minor injuries, five others received minor injuries and three were hospitalized.
