Taiwan plans to offer cash incentives to entice tourists back to its tropical beaches and towering mountain ranges, as it tries to boost its tourism industry after long border closures due to the Corona epidemic.
The British Telegraph newspaper reported that the East Asian island will provide $165 to 500,000 individual tourists, in addition to granting allowances of up to $660 to 90,000 tourist groups.
Taiwan hopes that these incentives will help achieve its goal of receiving six million tourists during the year 2023, and the allowances will be provided to cover expenses such as food and accommodation, and the allowances aim to attract visitors from major markets such as Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Macao, as well as Europe And America.
For his part, Zhang Shi-chung, director of a tourism bureau, told the Taipei Times: "The money will be provided through several tourism promotion events this year, rather than all at once".
Chung explained that the money will be distributed through electronic ticket cards, so that they can be used to pay for travel-related expenses once in Taiwan.
