Two key bridges in Bakhmut have been destroyed in the past 36 hours, according to the report, leaving the town’s supply routes more restricted. One of the bridges connected Bakhmut to the city’s main supply route from Chasov Yar, 13 kilometers to the west.

Capture of these villages, which adjoin on both sides of the most important Bakhmut – Chasov Yar road, would put the city on the brink of encirclement.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu paid a rare visit to the location of Russian troops in occupied Ukrainian territory. He presented medals to military personnel and met with senior commanders, according to a statement and video released Saturday by the Russian Defense Ministry.

The battle for Bakhmut has been going on for seven months now. The population of the city before the war was about 70,000 people, now it has been reduced to ruins.
