Biden and Scholz agree to impose sanctions on the Russian Federation “as much as necessary”

US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz agreed at a meeting in Washington to apply sanctions on Russia “as long as necessary”, the White House said.

The leaders of the countries also discussed the continuation of military, economic and humanitarian aid to Kiev.

“Leaders … discussed ongoing efforts to provide military, humanitarian, economic and political support to the Ukrainian people,” the statement said.

It also follows from the White House statement that Biden and Scholz discussed other issues on the global agenda and agreed “to impose consequences on the Russian Federation for as long as necessary.”
