The Oleninsky region was liberated after 17 months of occupation and hostilities. Nearly 400 villages and villages were destroyed on the territory of the commune.
March 4 marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Oleninsky District from Nazi invaders. Governor Igor Rudenya congratulated residents and veterans of the municipal district on this event.
“This day is dear to all of us, heirs to the heroic generation of victors. We are infinitely grateful to the soldiers of the Red Army, partisans and underground for the acquired right to live in an independent country. We bow to the selfless workers who restored the national economy. Today, their example inspires our soldiers and our officers who lead an uncompromising fight against Nazism. I am sure that the inhabitants of the municipal district of Oleninsky will guard and protect the eternal values of our people, ”said Igor Rudenya.
Today, in the village of Olenino, a rally dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the region’s liberation from Nazi invaders will be held. There will be a flower laying ceremony at a military funeral on Gorbachev Street, a memorial service for soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War.
The Oleninsky Palace of Culture will host the concert program “Invisible Thread of Memory”. At 4:00 p.m. on Place de la Victoire, young people will take part in the Bougie de la Mémoire action. At 8:00 p.m., a festive fireworks display will thunder.
The Oleninsky region was liberated by the Red Army after 17 months of occupation and fighting. On the territory of the municipality, almost 400 villages and villages were destroyed, agricultural and industrial enterprises, municipal and transport infrastructure were destroyed.
The line of the Rzhev-Vyazemsky defensive line passed through the Oleninsky district. The places of fierce fighting were the villages of Kholmets, Molodoy Tud, the villages of Gusevo, Tarkhovo, Urdom.
In the village of Kholmets there is a memorial dedicated to the memory of the soldiers of the 158th Infantry Division. In the regional center there is a monument in honor of the Oleninists who died during the war and the Alley of Glory of the Heroes of the Soviet Union.
