The Department of Education has been asked to consider scrapping the exam

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova received a request from State Duma deputies with a proposal to instruct the Ministry of Education to assess the possibility of canceling the USE. It is reported by RIA Novosti, referring to a copy of the document.

State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev became the author of the document. The document also proposes to discuss with the deputies possible changes in the education system.

Earlier, Rosobrnadzor reported that at present the USE is canceled in Russia, even against the background of Russia’s withdrawal from the Bologna system. At the same time, Deputy State Duma Speaker Pyotr Tolstoy noted that the issue of abolishing the USE “is being discussed and will be discussed.” According to him, this is “a necessary step towards the return of Russian education to the traditional national path”.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his speech to the Federal Assembly, announced the need to return to tradition for the Russian Federation period of study at universities for 4-6 years.
