Aida’s Marathon of Life

On the eve of World Women’s Day, Aida Alekseevna Kasatkina celebrated her 95th birthday.

In ancient Feodosia, many people know and respect her. For her incredible dedication to the teaching profession, for active social work, by decision of the 75th session of the city council on July 30, 2010, she was awarded the title of honorary citizen of the city.

Therefore, it is not surprising that the solemn event on the occasion of his milestone birthday looked more like a meeting of friends. Many of them were lucky enough to live and work alongside this wonderful woman. In this aspect, the author of this note was also lucky. I met Aida Alekseevna several times at meetings of the city council of veterans, where she was elected at the very beginning of the founding of this public organization. The other day I asked him to give a short interview to the readers of the newspaper “MK in Crimea”. Just one question: “What does she consider the most important thing in her life?”.

– I’m not going to make this up. I will repeat what I wrote in the preface to my book called Life Marathon. In fact, this is a collection of memoirs, articles and essays written by both me and my fellow teachers, social friends of the Krugozor club. There I honestly noted that the purpose of the book is not to show the work, the achievements of the author, my personality, but to direct the reader to reflection, reflection on the importance of a active lifestyle in its broadest sense, spiritual growth and self-enhancement. To live fully, for the benefit of people – these are the most important criteria in my life, – answered AA Kasatkine.

It is difficult to tell the biography of the hero of the day in a short note. Therefore, I will note the main thing. Aida Alekseevna came to Feodosia in 1954 with her husband, who came to a new place of military service. The talent of the organizer Kasatkina was immediately noticed in the education department. With her care and effort, conviction and perseverance, a polytechnic technical school was built and opened in the city, of which she became the director. For her long-term excellent work, she was awarded the honorary title of “Honored Professor of the Ukrainian SSR”. Even today, as the attendees of the anniversary party noted, she is young at heart, charming and energetic. His marathon of life continues.
