In case the future owner of the dog prefers a calmer pet, it is worth taking a closer look at 5 breeds, Russian Cynological Federation (RKF) President Vladimir Golubev told RIA Novosti.
First on the list are basenjis, which barely bark, but use growls, sighs, sniffles, and other not very loud sounds for communication. However, these dogs are very active and have a strong hunting instinct. The expert recommended to determine whether the future owner is ready for a very active dog.
The second and third options are Deerhound or Scottish Deerhound, these dogs are smart and patient, love children and do not bark for any reason. The difficulty is the same – street activity, while this breed lends itself perfectly to training.
Number 4 on the list are Salukis, elegant, quiet and independent, they love silence and solitude. But they were also bred specifically for hunting. The same can be said for Greyhounds, who become calmer with age.
At the same time, Golubev noted that the “volume” of a pet as a whole is determined by its upbringing. He also noticed that almost all of the above dogs, with the exception of the basenji, are quite difficult to keep in an apartment due to their activity and size. In addition, he warned that any dog requires attention and education, and even pets that don’t bark need to be trained.
