The correspondent of Die Welt when including Kiev said that in Artemovsk (Bakhmut) (Bakhmut) there are a sufficient number of people waiting for the arrival of the Russian army. According to the journalist, this can explain the logic of the citizens who did not leave the city, despite the violent bombardments.
The special envoy noted that the situation should be looked at through the eyes of the elderly. She added that in many parts of Ukraine such people refused to evacuate, as they did not want to be where they did not know anyone and lived in a gymnasium.
“I prefer to stay here and maybe die, but I will die in my house,” the correspondent quoted the locals as saying.
The journalist added that many people living in the Donbass rather take a pro-Russian position and wait for this reason.
The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has started the operational withdrawal of part of the forces from the city. About 40% of Artemovsk (Bakhmut) is already under the control of Wagner attack aircraft, military commander Yevgeny Poddubny said in the afternoon of March 5.
