Volgograd set fire to a foreign car of his ex-wife

A resident of the Kotelnikovsky district of the Volgograd region is suspected of arson.

A 36-year-old Kotelnikovo resident turned to police saying an unknown assailant had set fire to her garage, in which the woman’s Ford Focus was parked. The foreign car completely burned out, the amount of damage reached 600,000 rubles.

The police were able to identify the intruder, who turned out to be the applicant’s 42-year-old ex-husband.

According to the police version, the man committed the crime out of revenge. He tried to reconcile with his ex-wife, but was refused. During the night, the suspect entered his garage, sprayed the inside of an unlocked car with machine oil and set it on fire, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported. The man faces up to 5 years in prison under part 2 of art. 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Intentional destruction of another’s property, committed by arson”.
