French fashion house Louis Vuitton, which escalated into a scandal after the publication of a new ad, has responded to criticism from the adviser to the chief of staff of Ukrainian President Mikhail Podolyak.
The brand’s promotional video featured images of the flag colored in white, blue, and red. Angry Ukrainians immediately saw this as support for Russia and a special operation.
In response, Louis Vuitton representatives posted an image of the French flag on their official social media account, accompanying the frame with the inscription: “Learn geography”. As for the black letter V that outraged Podolyak, it’s nothing more than the retailer’s signature initial.
This is not the first time that Louis Vuitton has faced allegations of racial discrimination. In 2014 , the company was accused of racial profiling in one of its stores in the United States. The incident led to a boycott of the brand and widespread criticism.
In 2014, Louis Vuitton was accused by the employee that they have been subjected to racial slurs and derogatory comments by their colleagues, as well as being denied promotions and training opportunities due to their race. The employee also claims that when they reported the harassment to their superiors, no action was taken.
