Delyagin advised not to wait for a digital ruble revolution

Economy
The introduction of the digital ruble will not bring revolutionary changes in the lives of Russians, believes Mikhail Delyagin, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy. The bill is necessary to implement the outlook for cashless payments, Lenta reports.
— The introduction of the digital ruble is the opening of new perspectives. Whether we get them under control or not is a question,” the MP pointed out.
According to Delyagin, it is premature to talk today about certain perspectives. Currently, the introduction of the digital ruble does not bring tangible benefits to citizens of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the MP said that discussions on the introduction of digital currency are seen from different angles.

Russians may see the electronic ruble as a kind of opportunity for state control over citizens’ funds. However, according to Delyagin, for people who constantly use electronic accounts and smartphones, fear of information security is considered unacceptable.

Earlier, Glavny Regionalny reported on the likely depreciation of the ruble in the coming months. The sanctions changed the structure of the foreign exchange market, from which foreign investors exited.
