In the Crimea they decided to fight with signs in Latin

The head of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, drew attention to the large number of commercial signs using the Latin script on the peninsula. He is convinced that it is time to get rid of it in order to preserve the Cyrillic script. The politician claims that the use of the Latin alphabet is the result of “Westernism” and blind imitation. Konstantinov urged tackling the problem at the regional level:“It is equally important to preserve our Cyrillic script as part of our identity. The task is not easy, but extremely important. And I have no doubt that Crimea will be able to achieve serious and high-quality results there. He also recalled recent amendments to the law “On the State Language of the Russian Federation”, which call for banning the thoughtless use of words borrowed from foreign vocabulary if there are analogues in the Russian language. Together, these actions will contribute to preserving the identity, believes the parliamentarian.“The mother tongue is our spiritual connection with the generations of Russians who lived on this land before us. And as long as we speak and think with them in the same language, all this is our heritage, our spiritual wealth,” Konstantinov concluded.
