In Kimry, Tver region, police arrested a young man involved in several episodes of phone fraud.
It is preliminary established that the suspect was a courier under the “relative in need” criminal scheme. The pensioners received a call informing them that their relative was the culprit of the accident. To avoid criminal liability, it is necessary to pay a large sum, for which the young man came. He took from the elderly from 160 to 175 thousand rubles.
After the courier’s visit, the victims contacted their relatives and found that everything was fine with them. According to the victims, a profile of the suspect has been drawn up. Judicial police employees managed to detain him when he listed the stolen accomplices. At the police station, the young man confessed to the crime. He was placed in a remand center.
A criminal case was opened under part 2 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The attacker faces up to five years in prison.
