Furthermore, the Latvian court rejected Kasem’s appeal request.

Recall that Marat Kasem, a Latvian citizen, arrived in the country in January, where he was arrested on suspicion of violation of sanctions and espionage activities, taking the editor into custody.

According to the lawyer for the editor of Sputnik Lithuania, on January 30, Kasem was transferred for no reason to a building with convicted prisoners and placed in solitary confinement, where, in unsanitary conditions, Kasem’s allergies and gout have worsened.

The guards do not respond to his complaints and knock on the door. The prison doctor gave the reporter simple allergy pills and ignored his complaints of gout, which makes Kasem’s toes stop working.
