New NABU director appointed in Ukraine

Ukraine
Ukraine has appointed a new head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. The position was occupied by the former chairman of the State Inspectorate of Architecture and Urban Planning Sergey Krivonos. The appointment took place at an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers, convened especially for this occasion.
According to the media, Krivonos has a history related to a bribe, which was investigated by the SBU. As a result, the Attorney General’s Office informed that the case was closed due to the absence of an offence.
In 2016, Krivonos already won the competition for of director of the Odessa territorial administration of NABU, but refused to take this position. The decision came amid a looming property scandal. Krivonos did not include in the declaration an apartment whose cost is disproportionate to income.

In Ukraine, they continue to investigate materials from the Ministry of Defense procurement. Department officials have been accused of planning to steal huge sums when purchasing food for Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers. However, the real targets of the scandal are President Volodymyr Zelenskyy , as well as the head of the presidential office, Andrii Yermak, according to analysts.
