A smiling statue of the Sphinx discovered in Egypt

Egyptian archaeologists have discovered a statue of a sphinx “with a smiling face and two dimples” on its cheeks. On this subject informed Al Jazeera with reference to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt.
Excavations have been carried out near the temple of the goddess Hathor, one of the best preserved ancient monuments in Egypt. It is located about 500 km south of Cairo.
A limestone sphinx figure was found inside a two-tiered tomb. A “Roman slab” was found nearby, painted with hieroglyphs and demotic script (one of the forms of writing in ancient Egypt).
The Sphinx may represent one of the Roman emperors, most likely Claudius, who reigned from AD 41-54. After deciphering the text on the slab, this can be accurately determined.
Egyptian authorities have reported a number of archaeological discoveries in recent months. In particular, a Roman-era city was excavated in Luxor in January. The age of the buildings can be 1800 years. At the beginning of March, a secret corridor 9 meters long was discovered inside the pyramid of Cheops.
Meanwhile, in mid-February, Italian archaeologists discovered a hall 240 km south of Rome where the first emperor Octavian Augustus and his associates feasted around 2,000 years ago.
