Japan launches H3 launcher self-destruct, mission fails

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has launched the self-destruct of its latest heavy launch vehicle, the H3.

The day before, it was launched successfully exactly until the moment when the engine of the second stage was to start. This does not happen.

The entire event was broadcast live.

JAXA decided to self-destruct the rocket when it became clear that the H3 mission would not be carried out.

The launcher was to put the Japanese ALOS-3 satellite, designed to monitor natural disasters, into orbit. H3 is Japan’s largest liquid fuel launcher, 63m long, 5.2m in diameter, with a payload capacity of up to 6.5 tons.
