HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations said that the message that world leaders should send is that we simply cannot continue to work as usual. We need to move and take urgent action because the importance and future of the ongoing processes in the United Nations itself depends on the rapid implementation of the 2030 Agenda. Her Excellency said that she was honored to be appointed by the President of the United Nations General Assembly as a Co-Facilitator of the Political Declaration of the 2023 Sustainable Development Goals Summit, along with the Permanent Representative to Ireland.
She added: We are fully aware of the challenges of this critical mission, including the fact that there are great hopes pinned on this political declaration, noting that it will be very important to adopt the declaration by consensus, which will indicate that the international community is united behind the 2030 Agenda. We hope to negotiate a political declaration that is inspiring, ambitious, concise, actionable, and contains high-level, transformative recommendations. Her Excellency stressed that the successful Sustainable Development Goals Summit will create the desired momentum for the Future Summit 2024, which in itself is an opportunity not to be repeated in one generation, in order to re-commit and improve global governance appropriate for the future.
